Five People Injured In Rear-End Collision

(JUDAH) - Five people were injured in a multiple vehicle collision at the intersection of Ind. 37 and Old Ind. 37 Monday night.

The accident happened just before 6 p.m.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 43-year-old Sean Walls of Mitchell, driving a 2000 Dodge Ram, and 26-year-old Whitney LuAllen of Springville, driving a 2004 Saturn Vue, were both stopped for the stop light at the intersection in the left northbound lane. At the same time 54-year-old Victor Stievenart of Bedford, driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, was in the turn lane on Ind. 37 to turn east onto Old Ind. 37.

Police say 93-year-old James New of Bedford, driving a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado, failed to stop and collided his pickup into the rear of Wall's Dodge Ram. The impact pushed the pickup into the rear of LuAllen's Saturn. After the collision, New's pickup moved backwards striking Stievenart's vehicle.

New complained of body pain and Walls and his passenger, 25-year-old Sean M. Walls of Mitchell, complained of neck pain.They were both taken by an IU Health Hospital ambulance to IU Health Hospital.

LuAllen complained of neck pain and her 8-year-old passenger complained of head pain. They were transported by a Seals ambulance to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for treatment.

Assisting at the scene was Marshall Volunteer Fire Department.
