Last updated on Wednesday, August 24, 2016

(WALESBORO) - A Brownstown man died Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on I-65 near the Walesboro exit.

53-year-old Tom Pickett will be buried Thursday in Edinburgh.

According to Columbus Police, the accident happened at 1:20 p.m. when two vehicles hydroplaned after a downpour.

Pickett was driving a 2004 GMC Sierra truck, which flipped on its top into a ditch full of water.

Police say several motorists stopped to assist and attempted to flip the truck back over before help arrived.

The other vehicle came to a stop on the side of the roadway and no one was injured.

The northbound lanes of the interstate were closed for about an hour Saturday.
