Bicknell Man Injured In Crash

(HURON) - A Bicknell man was injured after he fell asleep while driving on U.S. 50 West Tuesday morning.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 57-year-old Donald Dauscha was traveling back from Washington, Indiana and had set the cruise control at 55 miles per hour on the 2015 Dodge Journey, owned by Williams Bro. Health Care, he was driving and the next thing he knew he had crashed.

Dauscha told police he must have fallen asleep because he was exhausted.

Police say the vehicle went off the west side of the road in the 3100 block of U.S. 50 West, crossed a slightly elevated driveway,went across an open field into a large drainage area, then struck an embankment and want airborne, landing on the other side of the embankment.

Dauscha suffered back, neck, jaw and head pain. He also had minor bleeding from a cut on his head. He was taken by a Seals ambulance to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for treatment.

Assisting at the scene was Huron Volunteer Fire Department.
