Bedford 13U All Stars Fall In First Game Of World Series

Last updated on Tuesday, August 2, 2016

(LIVERMORE, Calif.) - The Bedford 13U Little League All-Stars lost their first game in the Intermediate World Series run Monday night with an 8-5 loss to the host team, California District 57 at Max Baer Field.

The game began two-and-a-half hours after its scheduled start time because earlier games took longer then expected and a game between West and Southeast went into extra innings before Southeast scored for the win.

Bedford, the Central Region champions, showed some game jitters, but overcame that to tie the game at the top of the third. California scored and took the lead 3-1.

In the fourth, Bedford took the lead at 5-3.

California didn't waste any time with a comeback in the bottom of the fifth with three runs, one being a two-run home run.

Bedford couldn't connect, remaining scoreless.

Bedford is back in action today at 3 p.m. PST (6 p.m., local time) against East Region champion North Vineland LL of New Jersey (0-1).
