(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County's animal control officer is looking for the owner of a pit bull who has given birth so she can reunite the mother with her puppies.

Lola Nicholson found the red brindle pit bull in a garage on Valley Lane in East Oolitic. She was called to the home after the resident found the dog in his garage and she was being somewhat aggressive. That is when Nicholson discovered the female dog had just given birth, but she was unable to locate her new litter.

Now she is hoping to locate the owner to reunite the new mother with her pups.

The pit bull is about 1 year old and weighs around 45 pounds.

The dog is waiting for her owner to reclaim her at White River Humane Society.
