Road Closures And Traffic Control Changes Required For I-69 Construction

Last updated on Wednesday, July 6, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - The I-69 Development Partners Team announces the permanent road closure of Acuff Road for I-69 construction.

Acuff Road on the east side of State Road 37 will be closed from SR 37 to the intersection of Acuff and Prow roads, eliminating access to and from SR 37. Acuff Road on the west side of SR 37 will be closed from SR 37 to the intersection of Maple Grove and Acuff roads with a "No Outlet" sign. Access to and from SR 37 will be eliminated.

The closure of Acuff Road will begin in early August and will remain permanently closed.

Access to Acuff Road and SR 37 will not be directed with route markers. Please plan alternate travel routes for accessing SR 37 or Acuff Road prior to the road closure.

The I-69 Development Partners team also announces traffic control changes on State Road 37, Burma Road and the first drive south of Burma Road.

The planned traffic control change involves three traffic crossovers as illustrated below to give construction crews access to different portions of the roadway. Traffic will be in a crossover condition for approximately 3 miles between Chamber Pike and Paragon Road with no passing allowed.

In addition to the traffic control changes on SR 37, a "right in, right out" condition will be implemented at Burma Road and the first drive just south of Burma Road for additional safety to those traveling on and entering SR 37. Those traveling on northbound SR 37 seeking access to Burma Road and the first drive just south of Burma Road will be directed to the first available left turn lane located at, to make a legal U-turn. Drivers will then be able to access to those crossroads on the west side of SR 37 from the southbound lanes. Those exiting Burma Road or the first drive south of Burma Road seeking access to the northbound SR 37 lane will be directed south on SR 37 to the first available left turn lane located at which motorists can make a legal U-Turn and head north on SR 37.

The crossover condition is expected to be completed in early October, weather permitting.
