Oolitic Man Arrested After Punching, Pushing Pregnant Woman

(OOLITIC) - An Oolitic man was arrested Friday after he allegedly injured a pregnant woman.

Lawrence County Police arrested 40-year-old Jason Weaver on charges of battery causing bodily injury to a pregnant woman and possession of a controlled substance.

According to a Lawrence County Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, officers were called to a home in Oolitic after a report of a battery.

The woman, who is three months pregnant, told police Weaver had passed out on the back porch and she attempted to wake him. That is when Weaver allegedly hit her in the face and pushed her.

While officers were speaking to the couple, they noticed pills on the floor. Officers determined it was alprazolam, which Weaver did not have a prescription for.

Weaver remain in jail on a $5,005 cash or $50,000 surety bond.
