(MITCHELL) - A 72-year-old Mitchell woman was arrested after she allegedly hit another woman causing a large gash in her head.
Mitchell Police arrested 72-year-old Carol Pittman of Mitchell on a charge of battery resulting in bodily injury.
According to Mitchell Police Chief Steve Blair, officers were called to the 800 block of West Frank Street at 5:32 p.m. Wednesday, after Pittman called police to report someone had stolen $200 from her purse.
When police went to the home they found a woman with a large gash on her head.
According to police, Pittman confronted the other woman, who was intoxicated, about the missing money and struck her, knocking her to the ground, busting the woman's head open.
Pittman admitted that she hit the woman. She was then arrested.
Police did not locate the missing money.
