(WASHINGTON) - Robert D. Allen, the owner of a van involved in a crash last September on Interstate 69 that killed two Haitian women, has now been arrested on child molestation charges.

53-year-old Allen was arrested Sunday on two counts of child molesting and is being held in the Daviess County Security Center.

No bond had been set. No other information was available due to the holiday weekend.

At the time of the fatal accident in September, Allen's son, James Allen, was driving the van overloaded with workers heading to the AmeriQual plant just outside of Evansville. The van was traveling at a high-rate of speed and overturned killing Moise and Georges, who was pregnant at the time. Georges' baby survived and was released from the hospital in January.

Converted with wooden bench seats to hold more passengers, there were not enough seat belts in the vehicle and investigators determined the tires were dry rotted. Bad tires and excessive weight from passengers in the van were contributing factors in the deadly accident. Police described the van as a "death trap."

In April, his son was sentenced to 14 years in prison in connection with the deadly accident. He pleaded guilty to nine felonies and one misdemeanor. Police say he was driving while under the influence of marijuana at the time of the accident.
