(LOOGOOTEE) - School officials in Loogootee say an ongoing project is moving along so well they are now going to expand the scope of work.

The school system is in the midst of replacing the roofs and windows as part of a $2-million bond issue.

Loogootee School Superintendent Chip Mehaffey says the quality of work has be outstanding and there have been no additional problems or cost, so that means the school system will be out to use some contingency funds to do some additional projects.

The board approved a $42,242 lighting project that includes around $20,000 in rebates and long term lighting savings.

In addition the board approved a renovation project for eight classrooms in the elementary school and some additional ceiling and lighting work at the high school.

The goal is to have the projects complete before August 5 - the first day of school.
