ISTEP Scores Now Available Following Delay

Last updated on Thursday, July 7, 2016

(UNDATED) - ISTEP scores are available now after a delay in posting results. The scores were originally set to be out on June 30th.

Parents were able to access the portal as of Tuesday morning.

The company doing the scoring is Pearson School Assessments. Their vice president sent a letter out to parents citing "ongoing quality control processes" and "final checks" as the reason for the delay.

As many parents already know, this isn't the first time there's been an issue with the test.

Results were delayed by months for the 2015 test, and there's been other technical glitches and scoring discrepancies in the past too.

Changes are on the way.

In March, Governor Pence signed into law a bill eliminating ISTEP after 2017, and a panel was created to look into other testing models going forward.

That 23-person panel is made-up of teachers, principals, superintendents and community leaders. House speaker Brian Bosma, Senate President David Long, and State Superintendent Glenda Ritz are also part of it. The group has already met twice.

They have until December 1st to make recommendations.

Their next meeting is July 19th.
