(BLOOMINGTON) - The Indiana Region of the American Red Cross is pleased to announce Maria Del Mar Carrasquillo, as the new Disaster Program Manager in District 8 which serves Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson, Lawrence, Monroe, Orange and Washington counties. Carrasquillo is returning to the Red Cross where she previously served as the Disaster Program Manager for 10 years.
"With Maria's exceptional experience, as well as her knowledge of the Red Cross, she will once again be a great asset in this role," said Debbie Fletcher, Regional Disaster Services Officer for the Indiana Region of the American Red Cross. "We are fortunate to have Maria back with the Red Cross and we are confident that she will continue to provide excellent leadership for our volunteers."
Carrasquillo has also been a Red Cross certified CPR/AED/First Aid instructor. As a certified International Services Instructor, she not only taught others about Red Cross International Services, but also assisted in the translation of the program into Spanish. In addition to her previous Red Cross experience, she has been self-employed with Global Impact Readiness as an Emergency and Business Continuity Planner, where she assisted small businesses in developing contingency plans. Carrasquillo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Indiana University in Bloomington, and is currently working toward her Master of Science degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security through Eastern Kentucky University. She is very active in the community, serving as both the Commissioner and Secretary of the Bloomington Commission of Hispanic and Latino Affairs and is the incoming Treasurer for the Grandview Elementary Parent Teacher Organization.
