(BLOOMINGTON) - A house divided into five apartments at 501 South Rogers Street had smoke and water damage after a fire broke out in the basement area Monday morning.

Bloomington Fire Department firefighters were called at 11:45 a.m. and were able to extinguish the fire quickly, containing it to the basement area.

According to Bloomington Fire Department Sgt. Brandon Hudson a problem with a small electrical pedestal fan in a basement bathroom caused the fire.

No one lived in the basement area. It was used for storage.
