Last updated on Thursday, July 7, 2016

(DAVIESS CO.) - Daviess County Prosecutor Dan Murrie made history recently when he was elected chairman of the board for the Indiana Prosecuting Attorney Council during the agency’s annual summer conference held in Lawrenceburg late last month.

Murrie's election marks the first time in the 43-year history of the non-partisan, independent state judicial branch agency that a Daviess County prosecutor has served as chairman of the board.

Murrie, who is currently serving his second term as prosecutor for the county and served two terms as chief deputy prosecutor, will chair the 10-member board of directors selected from the state's prosecuting attorneys and will work with the 90 other prosecuting attorneys from around the Hoosier state and their chief deputies.

Vice chairman of the board is now Washington County Prosecutor Dustin Houchin. Secretary/Treasurer of the IPAC Board is St. Joseph County Prosecutor Kenneth Cotter. At-Large Executive Committee member is Todd Meyer, Boone County Prosecutor. William C. Hartley Jr., Wabash County Prosecutor, is the outgoing IPAC Board Chairman.

Elected to one-year terms to the IPAC board of directors were Vermillion County Prosecutor Bruce Aukerman, Marion County Prosecutor Terry R. Curry and Cass County Prosecutor Lisa Swaim. Two-year board members elected were Delaware County Prosecutor Jeffrey Arnold, Monroe County Prosecutor Christopher G. Gaal, Wabash County Prosecutor William C. Hartley Jr. and Dubois County Prosecutor Anthony Quinn.
