City Of Bloomington Invites Public To Celebrate 26th Anniversary Of The Americans With Disabilities Act

Last updated on Wednesday, July 13, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington Council for Community Accessibility is hosting a public celebration marking the 26th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).

The festivities will take place at 4 p.m. on July 25th in the City Hall Atrium at 401 N. Morton Street, and refreshments will be served.

There will be a presentation to award recipients of the AccessAbility decal to local businesses, including Red Lobster, King Dough, Rainbow Café, Northwest YMCA, Michael's Uptown Café, and CVS (Kirkwood Ave.).

This year, the CCA unveiled a new, more active design for the decal, and all local businesses who have received a decal in years' past are invited to attend the ceremony where they will receive a new decal for their storefront.

It will be a great opportunity for a photograph with the decal and a large colorful sign with all of the businesses listed. After the celebration, a dozen members of the CCA will head out after the ceremony for a Decal Distribution Blitz, handing out decals to businesses that were unable to attend the ceremony. Join in the fun and learn how to make Bloomington a community for all to feel welcomed.
