(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man died last week after he was hit by a falling tree in the 100 block of Butterfly Lane.

59-year-old Russell Jeffrey Blackburn was taken to IU Health Hospital by Seals ambulance, according to Indian Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department Public Information Officer Daniel Bruhn.

He later died from his injuries.

Emergency crews were called at 8:23 p.m. Wednesday reporting a man had been hit by a tree that fell.

An ambulance and Indian Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department responded.

First responders found Blackburn laying next to a lawnmower. There was a broken limb and small tree laying beside him.

Officials are not sure if Blackburn was on the mower at the time he was injured but there was a dent in the hood of the Lawnmower from the fallen tree and branch.
