Last updated on Monday, June 13, 2016

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested Sunday after her 8-year-old daughter wandered into St. Vincent Dunn Hospital looking for her.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley officers were called to the hospital emergency room at 6:44 p.m. after the child walked to the hospital from her home at 1718 24th Street looking for her mother.

Officers went to the hospital and to the home looking for 43-year-old April Edwards.

When officers arrived at the home they found the door and all the windows open in the house. Officers entered and didn't find Edwards, but did find the house in disarray.

Police were able to locate the child's grandparents who then went to the hospital to pick her up.

At 8:05 p.m. officers found Edwards at a neighbor's home and she was arrested on a charge of child neglect.
