Three People Suffered Minor Injuries After RV Collided With Train

(BLOOMINGTON) - Three people were injured Saturday when they recreational vehicle collided with a train near Morgantown.

According to a news release from the Morgan County Sheriff's Department, the driver of the RV, 59-year-old Cody Thomas, was taken to Indiana University Health Morgan Hospital.

His passengers, a 17-year-old of Nineveh and 21-year-old Austin Burns of Morgantown, were both taken to Franciscan St. Francis Health Hospital in Mooresville. All three suffered minor injures.

According to police the accident happened at 12:30 p.m. on Ind. 135, north of Morgantown.

When police arrived they found an RV towing an enclosed trailer that had collided with a train traveling to Brown County.

Police say Thomas noticed the train alert but mistimed crossing the track.

The train traveled 150 to 200 yards before it was able to stop. The train did not derail, but did have damage to the braking system.

Neither the conductor nor the train staff were injured during the incident.
