Boys & Girls Club Of Lawrence County Hosting Wrestling Clinic

(BEDFORD) - The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County will be hosting a wrestling clinic the weeks of July 11th and 18th.

The camp is offered in two sessions; Session 1 from 10 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. is for new or limited experience wrestlers (K-5). Session 2 will start at 1p.m. till 3:30 p.m. and is geared for experienced wrestlers in the Middle School and High School (6-12) age groups.

Session 1 will give an overview of "how to" wrestling; stance, takedowns, escapes, reversals and scoring points. By the end of the camp, athletes will have many foundational skills needed to compete in a wrestling match. Session 1 is geared for K-5 th grade athletes looking to experience the sport but all are welcome to attend.

Session 2 will be advanced training with live wrestling. It is designed for experienced middle school and high school skill levels who want to improve to a championship level. Sound technique, proper drilling, and high percentage moves will be featured. This session will focus on takedowns and escapes.

Both camps will be led by Doug LaCouver who will give a solid foundation for wrestlers to build towards winning seasons next year.

The Athletic Fee is $30 for both sessions for members; registration will take place from June 20th to July 5th.

You may sign up at either the Limestone Unit Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. or the Thornton Teen Center Tuesday-Friday from Noon until 8 p.m..

Wrestling shoes are recommended but not necessary. Socks, athletic shorts, a properly fitting t-shirts are recommended.
