Teen Arrested After Allegedly Putting Rat Poison In Parents Drink

Last updated on Thursday, June 2, 2016

(SEYMOUR) - A 13-year-old Seymour youth accused of putting rat poisoning in his parents’ drinks was arrested on two aggravated battery charges on Memorial Day.

The incident was reported at 8:46 p.m. Monday, after police were called to the home after the parents found evidence that someone had put the poison in four drinks.

Police Chief Bill Abbott says the parents told police the drinks had a bad taste and then found some shavings from a block of rat poisoning bait in their drinks.

Abbott says the boy was mad at his parents because of some disciplinary action they had recently taken after he had been in trouble.

The boy was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center in Brownstown.
