Springville Heritage Festival Kicks Off Tonight

(SPRINGVILLE) - Springville Heritage Festival kicks off tonight.

Featured tonight will be a silent auction, art show, live gospel and bluegrass music, kids' games a classic car cruise in and baby contest and open-air market of vendors with handmade items.

Parade Grand Marshal Dr. George Sorrells will step off the parade "200 Years of Indiana Heritage," Saturday at 4 p.m. right after the Springville Choir sings 'On the Banks of the Wabash.'

Funds raised at the festival help support the Springville park as well as the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Activities kick off at 6 p.m. Friday, and finish with a bang with a fireworks display at dusk on Saturday.

June 17

  • 6 p.m. Silent auction bidding starts
  • 6 p.m. Concessions and Springville Art Show opens
  • 6-10 p.m. Live gospel and bluegrass music with the Swangos and Flynns in the Pavilion
  • 6 p.m. Cobbler's bench, kids' games
  • 6 p.m. Classic car cruise-in
  • 6:30 p.m. Baby contest registration; Morgan Hughes, (812) 508-2777
  • 7 p.m. Baby contest

June 18

  • 6:30-7:30 a.m. Registration for Springville 5K
  • 8 a.m. Springville 5K run/walk
  • 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Community-wide yard sale in back parking lot of Springville Elementary School. Vendor spaces start at $15. Denny Godsey (812) 276-2173 or Melissa Matson (812) 583-2033.
  • 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Spring Creek Market opens in the Springville park; $1 admission
  • 10 a.m. Cornhole tournament; entry fee is $20 per team, cash prize for the winners
  • 10 a.m. Concessions open
  • Noon. Live music begins
  • 2 p.m. Line up for parade at Dennis Wellman farm
  • 4 p.m. Parade: 200 Years of Indiana Heritage; call Kim Thompson, (812) 583-8483, or Heather New, (812) 797-8483, to enter a unit
  • 4 p.m. Bidding closes for silent auction
  • 6-10 p.m. Blind Rebel performs
  • Fireworks will go off at dusk
