Last updated on Thursday, June 9, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - According to an autopsy report 19-year-old Clinton Gilkie, a Monroe County inmate, died from a ruptured aortic aneurysm on Tuesday.

Gilkie, of Bloomington, was arrested as a juvenile in September 2014 and was facing a felony charge of armed robbery. He was to appear in court on Monday to plead guilty in a negotiated plea deal.

Sheriff Brad Swain says, Gilkie, collapsed in the shower area of the jail's recovery dorm Tuesday night. He also suffered from pre-existing medical conditions.

Fellow inmates alerted jail officers after Gilkie fell and was unresponsive. Correction staff began resuscitation until an ambulance crew arrived and transported Gilkie to IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police reviewed surveillance footage from the jail and there is no foul play is suspected in the death.
