(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man died in a house fire early this morning.

Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department were called at 12:20 a.m. to respond to a fire at 1306 West Brook Street with a man still inside.

Firefighters from Mitchell, Marion, Huron and Rural District II from Orange County rushed to the scene.

When firefighters arrived the kitchen and living room area were engulfed in flames.

"The wife (Laken Randolph) and three children (Piper, Caroline and Rhett) were able to escape unharmed," says Mitchell VFD Assistant Chief Fred Cassidy. "We went on the attack, we found him in still in bed."

Jarrod Randolph died inside the home. An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death.

"The cause of the fire is still under investigation," Cassidy added. "I was on the scene with the state fire marshal until around 11 a.m., we should know more later."
