(DUBOIS CO.) - A man was arrested on meth and other charges after Dubois County deputies were called to a fiery crash on Holland Road Friday morning.

Dubois County Sheriff deputies arrested 33-year-old Joshua Pate after they found him hiding a wooded area on County Road 600 West about two miles from the accident scene. He is facing charges of driving while his driver's license was suspended with a prior conviction, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and a felony charge of possession of meth. He also will be cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to deputies, they and the Holland Volunteer Fire Department were called to Holland Road NE, just south of County Road 750S after a report of a 1997 Ford F-150 off the road and on fire.

Police say Pate had been traveling eastbound on Holland Road NE and failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The truck went off the road and struck an embankment before stopping.

When deputies arrived, Pate had fled the scene.

Then at 5:45 a.m., police received a call of an injured man in a garage at a home on County Road 600W, about 2 miles southwest of the crash. The man ran from the garage after being confronted by the homeowner.

Deputies and K-9 Judge, tracked Pate to a woodline about 500 yards from the home.

Pate had suffered a head injury in the crash and was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital and then later transferred to St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.
