Last updated on Wednesday, June 22, 2016

(BEDFORD) - Four people were injured following a three-vehicle accident at State Road 37 and U.S. 50 West, Friday afternoon.

According to a Lawrence County Police Department report, 31-year-old Jennifer Wininger of French Lick complained of neck and chest pains and was taken by a Seals ambulance to Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital. Ronald Holt, a passenger in Wininger's vehicle, suffered pain in his hips and also was taken to IU Health Bedford Hospital.

Another driver, 20-year-old Haley Doty of Mitchell, complained of neck pain and was taken by a Seals ambulance to IU Health Bedford Hospital for treatment.

The accident report states Wininger was driving north on State Road 37 approaching the intersection with U.S. 50 West, where two other vehicles were in the east lane stopped for a red light. Wininger failed to slow her 2000 Oldsmobile Alero for the red light and she struck the right rear of Doty's 2003 Kia Sorento, causing it to spin 180 degrees and face south in the northbound lane.

Witnesses say Wininger was looking down at something in her lap just before the accident.

After striking Doty's vehicle, Wininger's vehicle continued forward and struck the rear of a third vehicle, a 2014 Ford Flex driven by 30-year-old Justin Grimsley of Danville.

All three vehicles came to rest south of the intersection.
