(BLOOMINGTON) - New York Police are investigating the death of an IU student who was found dead by his roommate.

The student, 20-year-old Robert Liu, was living in the Greenwich Village dorm in New York while working at a summer internship in the city, according IU Spokesman Mark Land.

A roommate found him hanging from a closet door with a belt looped around his neck inside their Lafayette Street dorm about 10:30 p.m. Monday. No note was found, and Liu didn't have a history of depression, according to police.

Lui was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say they are investigating the death, though they do not suspect foul play.

Liu, from Columbus, Indiana, who was a finance major was slated to start his senior year at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
