Bedford Parks Dept. Offering Free Movie Tonight At Wilson Park

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Parks Department will present the movie “Hoosiers” tonight at Wilson Park.

The event is free to attend and will begin at dusk at Wilson's newly renovated ball diamond.

"Hoosiers," released in 1986, was written by Bloomington's Angelo Pizzo (who also wrote "Rudy") and is directed by David Anspaugh. The movie is based on Milan High School's 1954 state championship journey, the film tells the story of a small-town team that defies the odds.

Gene Hackman portrays Hickory High coach Norman Dale and Barbara Hershey and Dennis Hopper also play prominent roles. Both Hopper and Jerry Goldsmith, who wrote the score for "Hoosiers," earned Oscar nominations.

Gary Dorsett, Bedford's recreation director, says those attending should bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks.
