Bedford Police arrested 32-year-old Brandon Russell on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor, battery on a person under the age of 14 and public intoxication.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to Thomasson Court at 11:20 p.m. after a neighbor reported a man hitting a woman.

When officers arrived the victim was not at the apartment, but arrived a short time later when she saw police arrive.

The woman told police that she and her kids along with Russell were swimming at a friend's home when the two got into an argument. They left the home in a vehicle but continued to argue. When they arrived home, the couple continued to argue and that is when the woman say Russell punched her in the head several times.

At some point Russell allegedly grabbed one of the children by the wrist and swung her around hitting her head on an object.

Russell then left the home.

The woman placed her three kids in the vehicle and went inside to grab a few items and that is when Russell came back into the house and chased her outside.

He then allegedly grabbed the woman slamming her against the building hitting her head. The woman was able to get away and got into the vehicle. Russell fled the scene.

While leaving, the woman saw police and drove back to the scene.

Police say the woman had multiple knots on her head and the bottom of her chin and was starting to bruise. The child suffered pain to her wrist and head.

Officers searched for Russell and after receiving a tip found him passed out at 12th and U Street where he was arrested.
