BBQ At The Quarry Currently Accepting Competitor Applications

Last updated on Thursday, June 16, 2016

(BEDFORD) - The aroma of BBQ will fill the air around the Lawrence County courthouse square during the Seventh Annual BBQ at the Quarry.

The event is part of the Limestone Heritage Festival and takes place Friday July 1st & Saturday July 2nd.

BBQ at the Quarry is currently accepting BBQ Competitor Applications.

The first 10 teams that are registered will receive 2 free BBQ at the Quarry event t-shirts with their completed registration.

"Teams range from backyard enthusiasts to established businesses. The competition pays out $4,000 between all of the individual categories and the Grand Champion & Reserve Grand Champion. Normally, 10-15 teams will compete... all vying for a potential maximum of $2,250 in individual team winnings." says David Pace, BBQ at the Quarry Event Chair.

To compete in the BBQ competition, each team will pay an entry fee of $50. This allows competitors to participate in the 4 Main Categories of Chicken, Pork Butt, Pork Ribs & Brisket. Competitors may choose to participate in one or more categories, however, in order to be considered for Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion, competitors must present in all 4 categories.

Competitors may also elect to enter in this year's optional category "Anything Butt." Entry fee for this category is an additional $10 and competitors may present any food item for judging that is prepared and cooked on site, but cannot be one of the 4 main category items. Desserts, side dishes, soups, etc. anything goes.

Competitors can enter by emailing David Pace at bbq@downtownbedford.org or visit BBQ at the Quarry on Facebook. More information and registration forms can be found going to http://www.downtownbedford.org/bbq-at-the-quarry.html
