SOAR Looking For Volunteers Teaching Others To Read

(BEDFORD) - Executive Director Adele Bowden-Purlee announces that SOAR (Success and Opportunity At Reading) will be conducting a training session for volunteers interested in making a difference in someone’s life.

SOAR Is committed to providing adults in Lawrence County with the literacy skills needed to reach their full potential as individuals, parents, workers and citizens.

Volunteers will be required to attend a series of trainings and commit to a minimum of one to two hours per week to provide tutoring sessions. Tutors will learn how to help adult students on a one-on- one, confidential basis.

The training session will be conducted by Beverly McIntosh, Martin County SOAR director and will take place on Monday June 20th and Wednesday June 22nd . The sessions will begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 9 p.m. in the Board Room of StoneGate Arts and Education Center, 405 I Street, Bedford.
