Last updated on Monday, May 16, 2016

(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested Thursday after police say he injured a woman not once, but twice.

Mitchell Police arrested 30-year-old Joshua Chaillaux on Thursday on charges of domestic battery, domestic battery in the presence of a minor and strangulation.

According to a Lawrence County Superior Court I affidavit, the first incident was on April 1 after a woman called police saying she had been inured by her husband while holding her 1-year-old child.

The woman told police that Chaillaux chased her out of her home, grabbed her by the throat while squeezing his arm around her neck, which made it hard for her to breathe.

Police say the woman had red marks around her neck and a scrape on her arm.

The second incident happened on Wednesday when Mitchell Police received a call about people fighting in the 510 block of West Frank Street.

When police arrived at Chaillaux's home they found a woman there who reported Chaillaux had injured her.

According to a second Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, the woman told police Chaillaux had head butted and shoulder checked her. Which caused her pain and her right eye to swell.

Police say a child under the age of 16 was also present during the fight.
