Milwaukee Depot Moves To New Location - Video Of Move

Last updated on Thursday, May 19, 2016

(BEDFORD) - The Milwaukee Depot has moved to its new home.

Many people lined the streets to see the historical structure head to its new location at 14th and J streets.

The depot project is part of the city of Bedford's Stellar Communities grant. The limestone building, which opened in 1900, is 130 feet long and weighs 350 tons. A Wolfe employee directed the move using a wireless radio remote control system.

The depot will be placed on its new foundation today at its new home at the corner of 14th and J streets. This location is about 1,200 feet south from its former home.

Once the depot is placed on its new foundation, Tri-County Builders will resume work on the interior. The project will be completed by November.
