(DAVIESS CO.) - A Cannelburg man was killed after the ATV he was driving struck a deer and threw him from the vehicle.

According to Indiana Conservation officers, 24-year-old Logan Craney was traveling northbound on County Road 1000 E around 9:40 p.m. Friday night when his 2015 Polaris ATV struck a deer in the roadway. The ATV overturned, throwing Craney from the vehicle.

Craney was pronounced dead at the scene by the Daviess County Coroner.

Craney was not wearing a helmet or protective equipment which Conservation Officers strongly encourage while operating ATV's.

Alcohol may be a contributing factor and the accident is still being investigated.
