Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs Community Outreach Event May 4 In Bloomington

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs Community Outreach Event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4.

The event will be held at the Bloomington Convention Center at 310 South College Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Indiana Department of Veteran Affairs is currently conducting a series of Community Outreach Events across the State of Indiana. These events bring a diverse selection of employers with immediate openings, Military-friendly Colleges and technical, post-secondary education opportunities, plus Local, State and Federal agencies, all in a Veteran friendly atmosphere.

The leadership of Indiana is clearly taking steps to eliminate the high number of unemployed and under employed Hoosier Veterans.

"Governor Pence has made a clear commitment to Hoosiers who have served their nation in uniform" said Jim Brown, Director of the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs. "By investing more money in job training, certifying Veteran Service Officers and supporting activities such as these Community Outreach Events, we are lowering the number of jobless Veterans significantly."

In addition to focusing on Veterans, Guardsmen and Reservists, IDVA Community Outreach Events also cater to their spouses and family members. Local, state and Federal agencies will be on site to provide advice in seeking higher education choices and options for every family member, explaining state and Federal benefits and guidance for those in need of assistance in other areas.
