Downed Tree Knocks Out Power In Parts Of Linton

Last updated on Friday, May 27, 2016

(LINTON) - Some parts of Linton were without power Thursday after a huge tree took out the power lines behind a home on North Main Street between H and G streets.

Linton Utilities Operations Manager Brent Murray told the Greene County Daily World that the size of the tree - the bulb measuring at least 12 to 14 feet high -- was in the way hampering efforts.

Todd Greene with Todd Greene Tree Service was on the scene assisting with the tree removal saying it was the biggest bulb he had ever seen.

The majority of the northwest part of Linton, as well as portions of the northeast part of town, were without power for several hours.

Others were without power on the south side of town Thursday morning due to lightning striking the Vincennes Street substation. The two outages were not connected, aside from being caused by the inclement weather.
