Crash Damages Washington St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store

Last updated on Thursday, May 5, 2016

(WASHINGTON) - A driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, causing their car to jump the parking lot bumper and crash into the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store located at 815 E. Main Street in Washington.

There were several customers in the store when the accident happened at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Store manager Ethna O'Haver says that she was at the cash register serving a customer when she heard what sounded like lightning striking the building and looked up to see the glass shatter and the wall cave in.

One male suffered cuts from the glass.

The vehicle hit the building, breaking the door and glass and knocked the power out.

The store will be closed until repairs to the doors and walls can be made.
