City Of Washington Set To Celebrate City's Bicentennial

(WASHINGTON) - The City of Washington is celebrating its 200th birthday this year.

To commemorate, Washington has planned some upcoming events to honor the bicentennial. There is a community concert series taking place now through November. Tickets are $10 per concert and available through the Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau. Washington Mayor Joe Wellman states there is a little something for everyone.

Other events include a 5K run through downtown Washington. The race takes place Saturday, May 21st. There will also be a 10-day festival beginning July 1st and running through the 10th. The festival includes a parade and family fun day. At the conclusion of the festival, the city will bury a time capsule.
