Aeropostale At College Mall Closing This Weekend

Last updated on Thursday, May 5, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - Apparel retailer Aeropostale announced that it will close 113 stores throughout the United States this weekend, including the College Mall location.

In a news release, Aeropostale announced its efforts to cut back on the size of its retail operations by eliminating 113 stores of a total 739 across the U.S. and all 41 across Canada.

The closures are part of a petition to file bankruptcy.

Anticipating a recovery in six months, the retailer will continue to seek a sale of the company within that same time period.

The release listed the store closure dates for locations that weren't "competitive with current market dynamics" as May 7-8.

Also in Indiana, the Jefferson Pointe Mall location in Fort Wayne will close.

Aeropostale has filed for a series of motions that will allow it to pay employee wages and benefits without interruption, honor all gift cards in full, uphold the terms of its international licensing agreements and pay suppliers in the normal course of business, according to the release.
