Warrant Served On Martin County Man Leads To New Drug Charges

(LOOGOOTEE) - A Martin County man was arrested on multiple criminal warrants and then earned new drug charges while being booked in jail.

Around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, Martin County Deputy Tony Dant was transporting a jail inmate from the Martin County Jail in Shoals to the Daviess County Courthouse in Washington, when he noticed 20-year-old Dylan J. Day of Loogootee in the vehicle in front of him.

Officer Dant knew Day was wanted on three felony warrants through Martin County. He called for assistance from Daviess County Deputy Aaron Harbstreit to assist arresting in the arrest of Day.

Deputy Harbstreit then contacted State Police Senior Trooper Jarrod Lents and asked if Trooper Lents could transport Day to the Martin County Jail.

Before transporting Day, Trooper Lents asked him multiple times if he was in possession of any drug. Day said he was not.

While going through Day's property at the Martin County Jail, Trooper Lents found a small plastic baggie containing crystal meth.
