(UNDATED) - Tuesday evening storms caused some minor damage in the area.

According to Lawrence County Emergency Management Director Valerie Luchauer, residents in the Mundell Estates area reported seeing an actual funnel cloud touchdown in the area, kicking up debris, outbuildings and causing damage to trees.

"Debris was blocking the entrance into the addition and there were various other trees down around the county," Luchauer wrote in an email. "There were no injuries and no homes damage to my knowledge."

Tornado sirens in Monroe County sounded twice Tuesday evening as violent storms approached the Bloomington area from neighboring counties.

The first siren sounded after a tornado reportedly touched down near Bloomfield in Greene County at 7:24 p.m. A tornado was spotted on the ground heading East at 25 mph. Another was reported at 4340 North 475 West in Worthington.

According to Emergency Management Agency Director Roger Axe, reports of a tornado touching down in Bloomfield-Worthington area are unsubstantiated at this time.

"I'm going to need a little more official word before I can call this a tornado," said Axe.

A second siren sounded in Bloomington was as the storm approached from Freedom and Spencer in Owen County.

The severe weather warnings issued by the National Weather Service have expired and there are no further warnings in effect at this time, but more storms are predicted to hit today.
