Teen Arrested After Physical Fight With Father Over Putting Gas In Car

(SPRINGVILLE) - A Springville teen was arrested Monday night after he got into a physical fight with his father about putting gas in the car.

According to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, officers were called to 200 block of Burkwood Hills at just after 5 p.m. after a man called police saying he had been in a physical altercation with his son and was injured. An IU Health Hospital ambulance and Marshall Volunteer Fire Department responded.

The man told police that he and 18-year-old Jason Barnett-Main got into a physical altercation after arguing about putting gas in the car.

During the physical fight, the father suffered bleeding from his elbow and knee. The father was treated and released at a local hospital.

The filed a battery affidavit against Jason.

Jason left before police arrived, but later came to the Sheriff's Department at 10 p.m. and spoke with an officer.

Jason did suffer some small cuts on his hands and wrist and a cut on his chest. He was treated at the jail and did not require medical transport.

He was arrested on a charge of battery causing injury.
