(UNDATED) - Seniors Megan Hawkins of Shoals and Alyssa Cromwell of Paoli were named 2016 Lilly Scholars.

The scholarships provide four-year full-tuition to the Indiana colleges of their choice.

Applicants for the scholarship were required to hold an SAT score of 1500 or above, rank in the top 25 percent of their class, receive an academic honors diploma, and have gained acceptance into an accredited Indiana college. Applicants were evaluated on academic skills; character traits such as integrity, responsibility, honesty, leadership and dependability; involvement in community and school; and financial need.

Finalists then completed personal interviews and a timed essay; and, once the evaluations were complete, three candidates' names were submitted to Independent Colleges of Indiana, Inc. for final selection and approval.
