(LAWRENCEPORT) - A Mitchell man was arrested after police say he hit a child on the side of the head multiple times.
Police arrested 47-year-old Charles Clark on Wednesday on a charge of battery on a child under the age of 14.
According to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, officers received a report allegations that an 11-year-old boy had been with Clark who allegedly hit the boy on the side of the head with an open hand multiple times and pushed the boy our of a chair to the floor.
The boy's mother took the child to IU Health Paoli Hospital for treatment for a contusion.
"The incident started as a family situation with Mr. Clark trying to correct the child's behavior at the kitchen table," Chief Shoults says.
