Last updated on Monday, April 25, 2016

(BEDFORD) - State Rep. Eric Koch has been endorsed by Indiana Farm Bureau in the Republican primary for the Senate in District 44. He is running for the seat currently held by Senator Brent Steele, who is retiring at the end of his term this year.

Indiana Farm Bureau ELECT, the non-partisan political action committee associated with Indiana Farm Bureau announced the endorsement, based on Koch's "support of policies that will foster a positive environment for agriculture and rural communities across the state," said Jay Wood, Communications Specialist for Public Policy and Advocacy.

"Endorsements are made through a multi-step process, starting with recommendations from the Farm Bureau members who live in the district. This format stays true to the grassroots nature of the Indiana Farm Bureau organization

"Your commitment to public service and building a relationship with Hoosier farmers is greatly appreciated by our nearly 73,000 farm family members," said Megan Ritter, Director of Public Policy for Indiana Farm Bureau, in announcing the endorsement.

"It is a great honor to receive this endorsement recognizing my work on behalf of Indiana's family farms," said Rep. Koch.

A graduate of Georgetown University and Indiana University School of Law, Koch is an attorney in private practice and a small business owner.  An eighth-generation Hoosier, he and his wife Connie, a teacher at Shawswick Elementary, have three sons.

Senate District 44 includes all or part of Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson, Lawrence, and Monroe counties.
