Former Washington Church Minister On Trial For Child Molesting

Last updated on Thursday, April 7, 2016

(WASHINGTON) - A Daviess Superior Court jury began hearing testimony Wednesday in the trial of a former Washington church minister accused of molesting a boy over several years.

Washington City Police arrested 56-year-old Armando Bruno Morales of Washington in January 2015 on one Class A felony and two Class C felonies of child molesting. All of them involving a boy whose family had attended a Hispanic church on Main Street where he had been the minister.

A probable cause affidavit filed with the court at the time of his arrest stated the victim claimed the abuse began in 2008 when he was 8 years old and continued over a six-year period.

The boy told police that included a time when Morales was living with the family. He said that the abuse happened on at least 15 occasions and at one time Morales threatened additional abuse if the boy tried to tell.

Morales has denied the allegations.

He has been held in the Daviess County Jail since his arrest on $50,000 bond.
