Former IU Basketball Player And Son Opening Culver's In Bloomington

Last updated on Friday, April 8, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - Former Indiana University basketball player John Laskowski and his son Scott are opening a Culver’s in Bloomington.

Culver's has always been Laskowski's favorite restaurant and will open this fall on West Third Street near Ind. 37

Laskowski says the restaurant will have a combination of great food and IU basketball memorabilia from his favorite team in his favorite town.

Laskowski was a senior on one of the greatest college basketball teams to not win a national title. The 1976 team was the last national champions to finish undefeated. After graduating from IU, Laskowski was drafted by the Chicago Bulls, where he played for two seasons. He worked on the IU television broadcasts before working with the IU Alumni Association.

Scott was working at the Monroe County Police Department with hopes of becoming a U.S. Marshall. When he heard of plans of opening the restaurant he knew he needed to help.

Laskowski will be running the business side of the restaurant, while Scott runs the kitchen and the day-to-day operations.
