(BLOOMINGTON) - On Monday at approximately 2:30 p.m. a worker with Duke Energy reported locating human remains on the south west side of Bloomington.

The remains were located on private property in the approximately 1600 block of S. Rogers Street.

Investigators responded to the scene and did locate human remains.

Forensic Anthropologists with the University of Indianapolis responded at the request of Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer. They began excavating the site at approximately 8:30 am on Tuesday.

While specific information regarding gender, race, and age will be forthcoming, there is no indication that these remains are connected in any way to the Lauren Spierer investigation.

Initial observations of the remains and the scene does not appear to indicate foul play.

Bloomington Police Detectives are continuing to investigate any possible connections to other missing person's reports in the area.

The case remains under investigation.
