Commission On Aging Offers Sixth Annual Creative Aging Festival

(BLOOMINGTON) - In celebration of Older Americans Month, the City of Bloomington Commission on Aging invites the community to participate in the many events offered throughout the month of May as part of the sixth annual Creative Aging Festival.

From art exhibits to musical and theatrical performances, poetry to gardening, health and wellness and fellowship to informational presentations, there are events for everyone! These events help showcase the talents and skills of both established and emerging older artists, writers and performers; promote intergenerational understanding; and increase awareness of the value of creative engagement. Several organizations and artists have organized events which support these goals.

On Friday, May 6th, beginning at 5 p.m. there will be an opening reception of the Creative Aging Festival at the Monroe County History Center, 202 E. Sixth Street. Come meet members of the Commission and celebrate the launch of the 6th annual Creative Aging Festival. Refreshments will be provided and Creative Aging Festival event program guides will be available.

Copies of the Creative Aging Festival program guides will also be available in many arts and aging venues in the area as well as at the Showers Building. The Commission on Aging meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at Showers City Hall in the Hooker Conference Room, Suite 245. All commission meetings are open to the public and minutes from meetings can be found on the City of Bloomington website at www.bloomington.in.gov/coa.
