Last updated on Tuesday, April 19, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police say a woman left her three children in the care of two intoxicated people Sunday.

Court documents say 22-year-old Natasha Ester called police and claimed the father took all three kids from the home. The father said he went to the house because he heard the children had been left alone. The children range from 7 months to 3 years old.

According to police, the children had been confined in a room with a belt around the door handle. Urine and feces were smeared on the walls in the room. They were able to determine the children had been left unattended for some time.

A man and woman were found drunk and passed out on the living room floor.

Ester now faces three charges of neglect of a dependent. The children are now in the care of their father. Child protective services is involved in the case.
