Wheelchair Accessible Tables Stolen From Patoka Lake Shelter House

Last updated on Wednesday, March 30, 2016

(PATOKA) - Two wheelchair accessible park tables valued at over $2,000 were stolen from a Patoka Lake shelter house next to the spillway last week.

The Dubois County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help in identifying the suspects who took the tables.

According to police, they were contacted by Stan Akin from the Army Corp of Engineers on Monday about two tables being taken from the property sometime between Thursday, March 24 and Friday, March 25.

The tables are 8-foot vinyl coated and brown and black in color. They are wheelchair accessible and have a black and silver sticker on the legs with the following label, "Webcoat PO Box 3160 McAlester OK 74502 TX:918-426-5100."

The tables are extremely heavy, according to police, and were bolted to the floor of the shelter house. Akin told police it would have likely taken more than one person to move the tables.

Each table was valued at $1,092.85.

Police have no suspects at this time and anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's department at (812) 482-3522.
